Several members of the Leningrad Cowboys rock band have outlandish outfits, wearing oversized sunglasses and sporting pompadours, with exaggerated rocket shoes as their hallmark. However, they see no hope for success in their hometown, so they decide to head to America in search of opportunities. On the eve of their departure, the bassist freezes to death; nonetheless, the band members put him in a wooden box filled with ice and take him on their journey. At this point, a peculiar mute from their village secretly follows the band to New York. The opportunities in New York are not as abundant as they had imagined, and their difficult life continues. Just when they find themselves at a dead end, they receive a performance opportunity at a wedding in Mexico. Thus, they use their remaining money to buy an old car from an American salesman (played by Jim Jarmusch) and continue their journey to Mexico, where their final dream lies...
