Dr. Jekyll (John Barrymore) is a highly knowledgeable scientist who dedicates his entire life to exploring the intricacies of good and evil in human nature. Ultimately, he creates a terrifying potion that allows him to transform into Mr. Hyde, projecting all his malice and evil thoughts into Hyde's brain. By day, Dr. Jekyll practices medicine and helps others, but when night falls, Mr. Hyde appears, committing murder and wreaking havoc. Dr. Jekyll has a fiancée named Eve (Nita Naldi), and their relationship is very strong; however, the existence of Mr. Hyde unconsciously draws Dr. Jekyll to a promiscuous prostitute named Beatrice. The split personality causes Dr. Jekyll immense suffering, and he wants to eliminate Mr. Hyde.
