The silent and lonely middle-aged man, Saiyan Fernandez (Irfan Khan), has lost his wife many years ago and is close to retirement. Saiyan, living a solitary life, goes to work, eats, and returns home; when he feels lonely, he smokes on the balcony without saying a word. Ila (Nimrat Kaur), a simple and naive housewife, invests all her emotions into her family, considering caring for her daughter and serving her husband her responsibilities. She simply hopes her husband will look at her more, give her more attention. These two individuals, living in Mumbai with no chance of intersecting, unexpectedly connect due to a lunchbox mix-up, striking a chord between them. They start a correspondence through traditional and subtle letters, sharing their loneliness and isolation with each other.
