Before leaving the capital for Itsukushima, Taira no Kiyomori encountered the Battle of Heikyo. In one night, all of Kiyomori's residences were attacked by the anti-Kiyomori faction. Kiyomori took the opportunity to rescue everyone. Samurai Endo Moritoshi delivered Watanabe's wife, Kasane, to his brother Motomune's mansion. Moritoshi was deeply attracted by Kasane's beauty.
