"Mask" is set against the backdrop of the Communist Party's counter-espionage actions in Harbin at the beginning of its liberation. On the first day of the lunar new year in 1948, Li Chunqiu (played by Zu Feng), a military intelligence agent who had been undercover in Harbin for ten years, is suddenly awakened and ordered to execute the "Black Tiger Plan." Li Chunqiu's peaceful life of ten years is completely disrupted, as he faces choices about faith, familial responsibilities, and emotional belonging. In extreme circumstances, after a series of thrilling battles of wits and courage, he finally sees the bloody brutality of the Kuomintang's espionage agencies. Inspired by the Communists, he abandons the darkness for the light, undergoing a transformation of faith from anxiety to awakening.
