The story begins on the fictional island of "Dongji Island," located at the easternmost tip of China. The intellectually challenged young man Hu Sheng (played by Gao Huayang) recounts the story of his two friends — Ma Haohan (played by Feng Shaofeng) and Jiang He (played by Chen Bolin). After years of wandering, Haohan returns to his hometown, only to find that the entire island faces demolition issues, and his best friend, the island's only teacher Jiang He, will also be transferred to a more remote area. Thus, Haohan makes a decision to drive Jiang He to a school that is over three thousand kilometers away. The three brothers embark on an unprecedented journey, where they encounter childhood friend Zhou Mo (played by Chen Qiaoen) who is now a temporary actor, the wayward Sumi (played by Wang Luodan), Haohan's long-time crush and pen pal Liu Yingying (played by Yuan Quan), and the free-spirited biker A Lu (played by Zhong Hanliang). What seems like an ordinary journey is laden with foreshadowing, and Haohan and Jiang He ultimately reach their destination, starting entirely different life trajectories. This film is the directorial debut of the renowned writer and racer Han Han.
