University student Lin Jianqing (played by Jing Boran) meets fellow townsfolk Fang Xiaoxiao (played by Zhou Dongyu) on a train during the Spring Festival travel rush, and the two young people from the north begin a shared life of struggle. The New Year's Eve in a small city in Northeast China, the computer parts city in Zhongguancun, the snowy streets of Beijing, the street vendors in underground passages, and the various tenants in rental apartments all bear witness to their joys and sorrows. Xiaoxiao, who has been repeatedly deceived in love, finally comes together with Jianqing, who has just graduated.
