In 1994, Jewish-American professor Deborah Lipstadt faced questioning from right-wing British writer David Irving during a speech about her works "Denying the Holocaust" and "The Growing Distortion of Facts and Memory." Irving insisted that Deborah's labeling of herself as a "Jewish Holocaust denier" in her writings was malicious defamation and took her to court. Reluctant to engage in debate about the "Holocaust," Deborah could not endure Irving's grand proclamations of Holocaust denial in the media. She enlisted the help of prominent British lawyer Anthony, who assembled a team of experts and legal professionals. The Royal Court of England officially opened the case on January 11, 2000. In the initial stages of the trial, Irving appeared to have the upper hand, while Deborah struggled to contain her anxiety, though Anthony and esteemed defense lawyer Richard Rampton remained calm. In subsequent rounds of intense confrontation, Richard provided favorable evidence to counter Irving’s claims by organizing Irving’s extensive diaries and measuring the distances at Auschwitz. After three long months of deliberation, the judge ultimately ruled in favor of Deborah Lipstadt. The film is adapted from Deborah Lipstadt's autobiographical novel.
