The story takes place in the southwestern frontier during the early days of liberation. One day, Li Honghe (played by Wu Qingzhe) discovers the wounded military doctor Chen Yuandi (played by Wang Xuebing), who has been attacked by bandits, and rescues him, bringing him to Chen's hometown of Xitoucheng to recover.
