Nadine (played by Hailee Steinfeld) has been an eccentric, reclusive girl since she was young, often bullied by her classmates. Krista (played by Haley Lu Richardson) seems like a light that brightens Nadine's life, and they have been inseparable since they met, sharing joy and secrets. As time passes, the two girls grow up and enter high school, and their bond remains unchanged. Nadine's brother Darian (played by Blake Jenner) is handsome, sunny, and outgoing, making the cynical, mature Nadine seem even more out of place. But Nadine doesn’t mind, as she has Krista’s friendship. However, one day, Nadine is shocked to discover Krista and Darian lying in the same bed.
