Reiko (played by Mieko Harada), the mistress of the Wakana family, has recently been forgetful, and after a check-up, it was discovered that she suffers from a very rare brain tumor, with possibly less than a week to live. This news is like a bolt from the blue, leaving the three men of the Wakana family flustered and at a loss. Reiko's husband, Katsuaki (played by Kyoma Nagatsuka), resigned from his job to start his own business years ago, but he still carries heavy debts and lives a very frugal life; their eldest son, Kosuke (played by Sōta Matsukaze), and his wife, Miyuki (played by Mei Kurokawa), are about to welcome a new life, and the sudden change leaves him exhausted and torn; the youngest son, Shunpei (played by Sōsuke Ikematsu), who appears cold and peculiar, becomes Reiko's most trusted listener during her illness, and in this process, Shunpei seems to grow into a man capable of standing on his own. A touching and ordinary story unfolds around the sick mistress of the Wakana family... This film is adapted from a novel based on the true experiences of Kazumasa Hayasaka.
