Adam (Tom Hiddleston) and Eve (Tilda Swinton) are a pair of vampire lovers who have traversed hundreds of years together, moving from the medieval to the modern era. They have witnessed the ups and downs of human society and are currently living apart in Detroit and Tangier. Adam is an underground musician who despises incompetent and brutal humans, referring to them as "zombies." His deep depression drives him to even purchase wooden bullets, contemplating suicide. Upon learning of Adam's dire state, Eve travels a great distance to be by his side. Their brief reunion brings new hope to Adam, but he is displeased by the arrival of Eve's infamous sister Ava (Mia Wasikowska), who disrupts their lives. Ava's presence brings disaster and curses; she not only kills Adam's only human friend, Ian (Anton Yelchin), but also complicates the lives of her sister and brother-in-law.
