On the night of July 27, 1976, a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck the Tangshan area, causing buildings to collapse and countless victims. Faced with the imminent collapse of dangerous buildings, husband Fang Daqiang (played by Zhang Guoqiang) and wife Li Yuanni (played by Xu Fan) set out to rescue their trapped twins Fang Deng (played by Zhang Zifeng) and Fang Da (played by Zhang Jiajun). In a moment of crisis, Fang Daqiang stopped his wife and rushed in to rescue them, unfortunately losing his life. After the earthquake, Li Yuanni discovered that her twins were trapped at both ends of a concrete slab and that saving one would mean sacrificing the other. In a moment of desperation, she made the difficult choice—saving her son. This decision became an indelible pain in Fang Deng's heart. Later, she was adopted by a military couple, Wang Deqing (played by Chen Daoming).
