In 1949, a large number of mainland residents flooded into Hong Kong, and a pair of little brothers came to the city to make a living amidst the chaos. They suffered bullying from local thugs at the docks, but fortunately, they found protection under the powerful "Wang Laoji" of the Chaozhou gang, who took them in as adopted sons, naming them Ma Shaolin (played by Zheng Zeshi) and Ma Shihao (played by Lv Liangwei). The Ma brothers began helping Wang Laoji run a "word flower stall." Years later, the two had grown up, and Shihao, dissatisfied with their adoptive father's lackluster business, contacted outsiders to take over the word flower stall, leveraging the power of newspaper distribution to expand their operations, while Ma Shaolin invested in the media industry, achieving both fame and fortune and becoming the chairman of the newspaper board.
