The great tycoon of Guangzhou in the 1930s, known as "North Du, South Jin," is as famous in both the black and white worlds as Shanghai's Du Yuesheng—Jincheng. During turbulent times, a man's true journey in pursuit of power, wealth, and love is depicted. The female lead of "Overindulgence," Jiang Shan, and the male lead of "Outsider," Tang Zhenzong, star together. In 1920s Guangzhou, with political turmoil and powerful figures vying for dominance, Dragon Hall's big boss Lin Fengping meets an untimely death, leaving a power vacuum. The rival gangs, including the San Shan Society and Hong Sheng Hall, are poised to strike, leading to a bloody outbreak of conflicts at any moment. The outsider Jin Cheng (played by Tang Zhenzong), enduring humiliation and hardship, becomes the new leader and employs clever strategies to thwart his underworld rivals, resulting in severe consequences for Chen Da, a member of the Chen family. By doing good deeds, he gains both fame and fortune, expands Guanglong Shipping Co., and engages in arms trading, eliminating the Qing Gang violently. Through a series of murders, he rapidly rises to fame, becoming as renowned as Shanghai's Du Yuesheng. The entire narrative showcases the folk customs of contemporary Guangzhou, with a kaleidoscope of characters and dramatic twists. The well-known actress Jiang Shan portrays the legendary film star Hu Die, recreating a widely celebrated romantic tale.
