Subsequently, the headmaster approaches Harris with some bad news: the school is not planning to pay him a pension. When Harris's wife Laura (played by Greta Scacchi) learns of this, a fierce argument erupts between them. In fact, Laura has long been unfaithful to Harris; she is involved in an improper relationship with a man named Frank (played by Matthew Modine).
