The protagonist of the story is a Communist who has been in long-term exile in the Soviet Union. After the Greek military junta falls, he can finally return to his homeland in the twilight of his life. When he returns to familiar places from his memories with such a contradictory and ambiguous identity, and faces family and friends once more, he feels the alienation of human emotions, blindness towards the future, and a low degree of recognition and indifference towards his country. People attempt to unload the burden of memory but are afraid of losing direction in the lightness. In such an environment, he realizes that he has truly lost his nationality. Ultimately, he finds himself drifting on a floating shore in the Aegean Sea with the lover he has been separated from for many years.
