The story takes place at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, when Chaoyang City is divided by the Ojiang River. The local people, who should be like brothers living close to each other, have developed deep resentments due to various conflicts and misunderstandings, which gradually escalate to violent confrontations. The great monk Master Dafeng (played by Xu Haishan) cannot bear to see sentient beings kill one another and remain entangled in disputes. Little does he know that the cycle of cause and effect is unfailingly precise. To help the people, he vows to raise funds to build an eighteen-arch stone bridge over the Ojiang River to resolve the conflicts between the two banks. However, it isn't long before rumors spread that Master Dafeng embezzled the funds. To investigate the truth, the authorities send a passionate and righteous young constable, Xiao Li (played by Yu Haoming), to uncover the facts. Xiao Li quickly dispels the rumors and is deeply moved by the monk's good deeds. Just then, mysterious symbols, strange actions by Koreans, and an ancient mirror case emerge in succession, suggesting that some conspiracy is secretly unfolding... This film is adapted from a biography of the same name.
