During the Sengoku period, to grow up as an outstanding ninja, a poor boy named Rantaro (played by Kato Seishiro) enrolls in a top ninja school, Ninjutsu Academy. In the first-year leaf class (一年は组), Rantaro befriends the food-loving, sleepy Shinbei (played by Kimura Futa), the orphan Kirimaru (played by Hayashi Ryo) who juggles multiple part-time jobs, and many other friends his age. The daily studies of the little ninjas are intense yet fun, full of antics.
