Zhi Zun Bao (Stephen Chow) is transported back 500 years by the Moonlight Treasure Box, where he meets the fairy Zi Xia (Athena Chu). He becomes branded as hers and discovers he has transformed into Sun Wukong. Zi Xia and Qing Xia (also performed by Athena Chu) are the wicks of the Sun and Moon God Lamp in front of Buddha, with Zi Xia representing day and Qing Xia representing night. Although they share the same body, they harbor deep hatred for each other. Zi Xia vows that whoever can pull out her Purple Crystal Sword will be her true love. Zhi Zun Bao unintentionally pulls out the sword, and Zi Xia decides to commit herself to him, but Zhi Zun Bao, who is still thinking about Bai Jingjing (Karen Mok), rejects her. Later, the Bull Demon King rescues the lost Zi Xia in the desert and forces her to marry him, just when Zhi Zun Bao arrives.
