Claude Mann plays Forney, an ordinary office worker who, one day, follows his friend Paul Guers to a casino to try his luck. To his surprise, he wins big, and this windfall sparks a deep interest in gambling. Ignoring his father's advice, Forney plans to quit his job and head to the famous Angel Bay Casino to strike it rich. At the casino, Forney meets the stunning blonde Jackie, played by Jeanne Moreau. Unlike Forney's casual approach, Jackie invests everything she has in gambling; it is not just a belief but her way of life. As time passes, Forney and Jackie gradually fall in love. When Forney grows tired of the games and wishes to return to Paris for a normal life, the gambling-addicted Jackie finds herself trapped in a deep sense of helplessness.
