At the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War, Liu Tianwei (played by Andy Lau), the second son of a prominent military and political family in Wuhan, serves as a flight lieutenant in the air force. During a mission, he encounters heavily armed Japanese troops. Although he successfully escapes, he is seriously injured and makes an emergency landing in a small mountain village, where he is rescued by the village girl Xiao He (played by Wu Qianlian). Under Xiao He's careful nursing, Tianwei gradually recovers, and the two fall in love, but they face opposition from the village chief.
