The story takes place in the early Ming Dynasty. Yuan Xiaotian (played by Huang Shaoqi) and Yin He (played by Ruan Danning), the daughter of Song Lingxiao, the leader of the Qingtian Sword Sect, are in love and about to get married. The main disciple, Yi Shuihan (played by Gao Shuguang), is jealous of Yuan Xiaotian’s fortune and conspires with Yun Fei (played by Jia Ni) and Han Lin'er, who seeks to restore the Ming Dynasty, to find the four pieces of Qilin jade that were lost years ago, aiming to replace Song Lingxiao as the leader. Yi Shuihan schemed to frame Yuan Xiaotian's family, accusing them of colluding with foreign powers to rebel, resulting in the death of Yuan Xiaotian's parents and his imprisonment in a deep dungeon. In prison, Yuan Xiaotian meets Dongfang Qingmu (played by Chiba Shinichi), the leader of the Sifang Sect, who helps him escape. Meanwhile, Yi Shuihan poisons Song Lingxiao and deceives Yin He into believing that Yuan Xiaotian is the real culprit. The innocent Yin He trusts Yi Shuihan's lies and, under his manipulation, becomes his wife. Upon learning of Yuan Xiaotian's escape, Yi Shuihan practices the Thunder Palm diligently, just to eliminate him swiftly.
