Art collector Adeline (played by Patrick Bauchau) arrives at his friend Daniel's (played by Daniel Pommereulle) seaside villa for a vacation, where he meets a beautiful girl named Heidy (played by Haydée Politoff). Daniel tells Adeline that Heidy is a girl with a rather libertine lifestyle, with many boyfriends of different styles, and Adeline and his friends jokingly refer to her as the "woman who collects men." Adeline advocates for a healthy, natural, and restrained way of life, and naturally looks down on Heidy's wild behavior. However, he finds himself unintentionally drawn to Heidy, whose every move easily stirs his emotions, and it seems that Heidy is also fond of him. Unexpectedly, Heidy chooses his friend Daniel, which leaves Adeline feeling quite uncomfortable. He leaves the villa to return to his life, yet still maintains an ambiguous connection with Heidy. In this passionate and romantic city in France, the couple navigates their feelings in circles and veils; will Adeline become Heidy's next "collection"?
