Aileen Wuornos (played by Charlize Theron) is driven to a life of crime by the misfortunes of her childhood. Her mother abandoned her, subjecting her to endless abuse and neglect. To feed her drug addiction and survive, Aileen began prostituting herself at a young age. She offers low-level sexual services to truck drivers on the highway, caught in an endless cycle of despair. However, the arrival of a young girl named Selby (played by Christina Ricci) brings a glimmer of hope to her life, and the two begin a romantic relationship, living together. Selby has a strong desire for money, leading Aileen to willingly work hard to support her partner. She interviews for several jobs but faces rejection due to her lack of education and her rough, masculine demeanor. Left with no choice, she returns to her former profession and encounters a violent client, killing him out of anger and stealing his money and car. From that point on, Aileen starts committing crimes frequently, becoming a ruthless female outlaw on the highway.
