The film is adapted from the children's book story "Curious George," created by the couple Margaret & H.A. Rey. Ted, the museum guide, loves his job, and his knowledgeable and passionate explanations win over the attractive teacher Maggie, who brings students for a visit. However, the old curator announces some unfortunate news: due to a lack of visitors, the museum is facing closure, and the only way to save it is to launch a novel exhibit unlike anything seen in other museums. The old curator presents a mysterious diary with a map to Ted, indicating the location of a lost sacred site of the Zagwa tribe in Africa. As long as he brings back a large statue, the museum will be saved. Ted sets off for Africa by ship and finds the ancient statue indicated on the map in the jungle, but it is nothing like the grand description given by the old curator. At this moment, a mischievous little monkey takes an interest in Ted and follows him closely. When Ted leaves Africa, the monkey sneaks onto the ship with him.
