This drama is adapted from Xu Guixiang's original novel "The World of Horse Riding." During the 1928 Revolution, Chen Qiushi, seeking to escape the marriage arranged by his father, embarks on a revolutionary path with the help of the progressive youth Zhao Ziming and is sent to the Huangpu Military Academy for military training. Though weak and frail, he possesses considerable strategic talent and grows into a capable general under the guidance of his mentor. Due to differing beliefs, he eventually parts ways with his mentor. When the War of Resistance against Japan breaks out, he leads his troops to achieve victories against larger forces. However, his unauthorized changes to tactics and disobedience to orders lead to multiple demotions and ups and downs in his career. Seventeen years away from home, his son Chen Sanchuan, whom he has never met, becomes a brave warrior in his unit and refuses to acknowledge him out of resentment for his father’s past indifference to his mother. Filled with guilt, Chen Qiushi quietly nurtures and mentors his son. Gradually, Chen Sanchuan's attitude toward his father begins to change. With the outbreak of the Liberation War, Chen Qiushi is hit by artillery while covering his soldiers. On the hospital bed, the father and son finally recognize each other. Subsequently, the two join forces to create a touching battlefield legend.
