Vija (Shah Rukh Khan) is a successful young entrepreneur who accidentally meets the beautiful flight attendant Shivani (Madhuri Dixit). Shivani's gentleness and kindness deeply attract Vija, making him fall in love. However, just as Vija is about to propose to Shivani, he discovers that she has already walked down the aisle with a pilot named Ashok (Deepak Tijori).
Losing Shivani plunges Vija into despair. When he thinks he can finally move on from his emotional shadow, Shivani and Ashok re-enter his life with their lovely daughter. Vija realizes that he still deeply loves Shivani, and he tries every possible way to get close to and win her back.
