The story takes place in 1905, when the gang Ghost Xiang Tang massacred the Shijia family in Fengcheng. 24 years later, Master Yi Ming of Tianpu Temple is also killed by Ghost Xiang Tang, leaving clues that guide his lay disciple, Shangguan Yunfeng (played by Zhu Yilong), to search for the legendary treasure of Yuan Chonghuan. During the hunt for the treasure, Shangguan Yunfeng uncovers the mystery of his own identity; he is actually the only survivor of the Shijia massacre, being the youngest son of the Shijia family, and the treasure map is drawn on his back. However, his biological mother, who has just reunited with him, is captured by Ghost Xiang Tang's men and they threaten him to hand over the treasure for her release. Shangguan Yunfeng faces a difficult choice: to abandon the greater good of the nation and give the treasure to the gang in exchange for his mother's safety, or to stick to his principles and keep the treasure, regardless of his mother's safety. The film showcases the protagonist's inner struggle and moral considerations. He must weigh the pros and cons to decide how to act, which not only concerns his personal fate but also involves a balance between national integrity and family affection.
