Ling Haoxi (played by Dong Biao) and his wife (played by Shen Dianxia) have two beautiful daughters and a happy life together. However, Ling's mother is determined to immigrate to Canada and does not hesitate to force her younger daughter Lingling (played by Chen Shulan) to break up with her infatuated boyfriend Bao Youru (played by Wu Dawei). Upon learning the truth, Bao Youru angrily leaves, and that night, the Ling family of four dies from carbon monoxide poisoning.
