Ziwei (Lin Xinru) and her maid Jin Suo (Fan Bingbing), carrying a token left by Emperor Qianlong (Zhang Tielin) for her mother, come to the capital from Jiangnan hoping to reunite with Qianlong. They find it impossible to gain an audience, and in a desperate situation, they encounter the female thief Xiaoyanzi and become friends.
