Senior official Brenner (John Travolta) of the "Army Criminal Investigation Division" and his assistant Semple (Madeleine Stowe) are ordered to clarify a mysterious murder case within 36 hours. The daughter of Vice President's strong contender, General Campbell (James Cromwell), Elizabeth (Leslie Stefanson), is brutally murdered at a military base. As the investigation deepens, Brenner discovers that Elizabeth, who attended West Point, excelled academically and was stunningly attractive, yet had an unknown incident in her high school years and a strained relationship with her father. Moreover, General Campbell is not as upright as he has portrayed himself. While uncovering the truth, Brenner also reveals many secrets within the military. Ultimately, the murderer is brought to justice, and the incident is resolved.
