The story begins in the 1970s. In a military compound of a certain military region, a group of soldiers' offspring live carefree lives. Zhang Weiping (played by Duan Yihong) is recognized as the bad boy, while his brother Zhang Xiangping (played by Liu Xiaofeng) is the idol of the children. One day, while visiting home, Xiangping abruptly receives a return-to-base order. Inspired by him, Qiao Jianxin (played by Wu Yue) enlists in the military.
