Cheng Jiashao Cheng Yipeng (played by Fan Dongyu) is obsessed with martial arts. Cheng's father attempts to control him through marriage, so Cheng Yipeng decides to go to Shaolin as a secular disciple, allowing him to avoid his strong-willed fiancée Xiao Cui and learn Shaolin kung fu. After bidding farewell to his beloved Xiao Qing (played by He Qing), Yipeng heads to Shaolin. However, Master Hengde (played by Zhao Xiaorui) only makes the group of secular disciples do hard labor every day, refusing to teach them Shaolin kung fu. Although the brothers are dissatisfied, they are helpless. Furthermore, with Xiao Qing staying near Shaolin, Cheng Yipeng and the brothers find various ways to enjoy themselves despite the hardship. A wandering hero, once expelled from Shaolin, intends to challenge it after visiting various masters to avenge the resentment of not learning kung fu years ago. Cheng Yipeng and the secular disciples are beaten multiple times by the wandering hero, and Hengde, wanting to confront the hero, is instead locked in the scripture pavilion by the abbot. After enduring hard labor, Cheng Yipeng finally qualifies to practice martial arts and, under Hengde's guidance, seeks to rectify his past humiliation against the wandering hero...
