In the freezing cold Sapporo, "I" (played by Yo Oizumi), a private detective, and my partner Takada (played by Ryuhei Matsuda) spend our boring time in a quiet, dimly lit bar. Meanwhile, the reputable president of the local financial sector, Toshio Kirishima (played by Toshiyuki Nishida), is murdered while returning home after rescuing a woman. Shortly after, "I" receive a mysterious phone call from a woman claiming to be Kyoko Kondo, who asks me to inquire about the whereabouts of a man named Kato at a certain law firm. What seems to be a simple task soon pulls "me" and Takada into a dangerously complex situation. Even more bizarre truths will soon surface: the real Kyoko Kondo died in a fire a year ago... This film is adapted from Naoki Higashida's novel "Susukino Detective" series, the second part "The Phone Call to the Bar," and was ranked 10th on the 2011 Film Journal's Best Films list.
