The film is a remake of the classic 1973 escape movie starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman, telling the story of Henry, played by Charlie Hunnam, a professional pickpocket who is framed for the murder of a pimp and subsequently exiled to a prison in French Guiana surrounded by the sea.
