In a symphony orchestra, the insignificant character Gauss is incompetent and often absent from practice. However, it seems that fate has bestowed a special favor upon him, allowing him to become the leader of the orchestra, with a beautiful woman by his side; the originally silly and unconfident Gauss begins to grow arrogant and even exhibits unique artistic ambition. The absurdity of life lies not in whether victory or defeat is justified, but in the fact that, regardless of success or failure, one's personal destiny is still not in one's control. As a case, Gauss highlights not only the inhumanity under the machinery of state power. Due to the sensitive subject matter, the production was delayed for seven years, and Peter Solan also became a case in point with this film, using satire as a form of resistance, thus establishing a reference point.
