Liu Zhi, a lumberjack from Bugilan Town (played by Ding Jianjun), is caught stealing by Officer Lao Liu (played by Wang Yu). However, kind-hearted Lao Liu, seeing Liu Zhi’s impoverished family, not only refrains from arresting him but also gives him rice and oil. Feeling guilty, Liu Zhi cuts off three of his fingers.
