In the future, a temporal passage known as "The Corridor," resembling a mushroom cloud, appears in the skies above Antarctica, through which an alien species called "Gamu" launches its attack on Earth. After 33 years of brutal fighting, humanity finally seals the "Gamu" on the other side of the passage—at Fiyari Planet. However, as Gamu disappears, people gradually begin to forget about this event, but the battle continues on Fiyari Planet... The original work "Combat Fairy Yukikaze" is a representative novel by Chohei Kambayashi, which won the Nebula Award at the Japanese Science Fiction Convention. It has been adapted into an OVA by Gonzo, known for its expertise in 3D animation with titles like "Blue Submarine No. 6" and "Last Exile," and with assistance from the renowned Production I.G and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, creating the most realistic hard sci-fi aerial combat animation in history. All aerial combat terminology is extremely professional, and to capture the sensation of speed, team members even piloted an F15 fighter jet for inspiration. It took a total of five years to create this pyramid-level hard sci-fi work. The tension between the story and visuals allows it to far surpass any other aerial combat work.
