During the Anti-Japanese War, Su Xin (played by He Lin), an instructor of the New Fourth Army in southern Jiangsu, ventures alone to Shanghai to procure weapons. His mission is discovered by the Japanese intelligence agency, and Matsuda (played by Chen Shu) dispatches his aide Mei Yukun (played by Ma Xiaowei) to investigate the case. Unbeknownst to them, Mei is an underground agent who informs the underground party leader Lao Zhao (played by Tan Pengfei) about the situation, urging him to immediately identify the infiltrator within the guerrilla team, and he enlists the help of the Green Gang leader Chang Zhenbao (played by Cheng Zhi) to assist in purchasing bullets.
