Since his mother started chemotherapy, young Conor has been having nightmares every night. The dreams always feature dark, gloomy weather, howling winds, screams, and hands that he can never quite hold on to, tormenting him deeply. He keeps having the same nightmare until one day an unwelcome guest appears at his home—a demon with an ancient aura tells Conor that he was summoned by him, and that he wants to exchange three stories for Conor's own true story. Conor is not afraid of the demon because what he’s facing—the gradual death of his beloved mother—is far more terrifying. The nights feel eerie to Conor, and his days are equally hard to endure. Conor's father has left him and his mother, and his grandmother, who has come to take care of them, is not easy to get along with. In addition, he must endure the bleak days at school—exaggerated sympathy from teachers and bullying from classmates. Gradually, Conor begins to notice a pattern to the times the demon appears each night, and it seems the nonsensical stories he tells might have some deeper meaning. Is it a messenger of death, or a miracle that Conor wishes for? The story that Conor is reluctant to share with the demon contains his darkest secret...
