Tang Seng (played by Nicholas Tse) faces numerous hardships on the journey to obtain the scriptures. They arrive in Shache City, where they are ambushed by a tree demon during a grand welcoming ceremony, and all his disciples are captured, leaving Tang Seng alone. In this town, Tang Seng meets a hideous yet lively lizard demon named Mei Yan (played by Charlene Choi), who falls in love with him at first sight. Tang Seng is moved by Mei Yan's personality, and they both seriously violate heavenly rules. Tang Seng discovers that Mei Yan is hiding an alien visitor (played by Fan Bingbing), and Mei Yan becomes a rival to this beautiful extraterrestrial.
