This film depicts the famous rift between the French literary giant Émile Zola and the Impressionist painting master Paul Cézanne. In the picturesque countryside of Provence, young Zola and Cézanne admire and inspire each other, exploring the essence of art and forming a deep friendship. As they each draw closer to their ideals in their respective artistic fields, the realist Zola and the romantic Cézanne ultimately find it impossible to continue understanding one another. Their friendship comes to an end.
