In the late 1950s, Japan successfully bid for the Olympics, and from Tokyo to all corners of the country, pride and joy prevailed. Meanwhile, the familiar stories of the common people in Tokyo's Sunset Third Street continue with warmth and simplicity. Suzuki's auto shop welcomes a relative's child, the beautiful girl Mika (played by Aimi). This pampered young lady struggles to adapt to the modest life of Sunset Street, causing some head-scratching for Zenbunk (played by Masakazu Tamura) and Rokuko (played by Maki Horikita). On another front, Taka-gawa Ryunosuke (played by Hidetaka Yoshioka) and Jun-nosuke (played by Kenta Suga) remain close, but Ryunosuke misses the departed Hiromi (played by Sayuki). The arrival of Jun-nosuke’s biological father leaves Taka-gawa feeling down; to prove his capability to raise Jun-nosuke, he decides to regroup and make another attempt at the Akutagawa Prize. The ordinary people of Sunset Street are like one big family, arguing, supporting, and encouraging each other as they embrace the most brilliant era… This film won the Best Actor award at the 2008 Japanese Academy Awards (Hidetaka Yoshioka).
