In 1964, post-war Japan was experiencing a period of rapid economic growth, with the Tokyo Olympics just around the corner, and the entire nation was immersed in fervent enthusiasm. The familiar Sangding Third Street was subtly changing the lives of its residents. Takarawa Ryunosuke (played by Yoshioka Hidetaka) finally married the gentle Hiromi (played by Koyuki), and their adopted son Junosuke (played by Suga Kenta) had entered high school and was striving for the University of Tokyo. The couple was also about to welcome a new life. However, Ryunosuke had to face the challenges of being a newly minted novelist while also valuing his relationship with his ailing father. Next door, the Suzuki car industry was expanding and welcoming new apprentices. Hoshino Roku (played by Horikita Maki), now a skilled teacher, had developed feelings for Doctor Kikuchi (played by Moriyama Mirai) at the Paradise Hospital, but some unfavorable rumors were causing her great distress.
