Senior television reporter Jiang Youwei (played by Xu Guanwun) is diagnosed with colon cancer by doctors and given only three months to live. Upon learning of his condition, the television station owner initially wanted to fire him but later decided to exploit him to boost the show's ratings. Jiang Youwei, in order to secure a stable future for his family, hides his illness and works tirelessly to earn money, gaining both wealth and public trust through his efforts. When his eldest daughter A Shi (played by Chen Shaoxia) learns the truth, she informs the family, who are filled with concern. Eventually, Jiang Youwei exposes the station's deception during a news report, warning the public not to blindly trust the media. His own colon cancer surgery ultimately fails.
