In the small town of Bomont, partying and vibrant music are prohibited, with specific laws regulating the behavior of local teenagers. The adults live in constant fear due to an accident years ago where five promising young people tragically lost their lives in a car crash while out having fun. The oppressive atmosphere in the town is something Ren (played by Kenny Wormald) cannot understand; having just moved from the bustling city of Boston, he is full of passion for life and decides to take a stand against the decaying system. In Bomont, Ren meets the beautiful Ariel (played by Julianne Hough), whose cleverness and charm captivate him, and he quickly falls in love. However, Ariel has a troublesome father, none other than Reverend Shaw (played by Dennis Quaid), who is one of the members responsible for the town's stringent laws. Thus begins a prolonged "war."
