In the late 19th century, Thailand began extensive land cultivation to export more rice, making cattle the most important labor force, which led to the rise of a new profession – cowboys. These cowboys made huge profits by buying and selling cattle. However, a masked man known as the Fire Cloud Thief has been frequently robbing cowboys. This thief is highly skilled in martial arts and distributes the stolen cattle to poor farmers, earning him a good reputation among the common people, while cowboys fear him greatly.
Noble descendant Sili Gong imported land cultivation machines from England, but their high prices left the farmers in despair. To make a profit from selling the machines, Sili Gong hired a group to specifically rob and kill cowboys, and then sell their cattle to slaughterhouses, ensuring that the farmers would buy the cultivation machines when they had no cattle. Therefore, the cowboys not only had to worry about the Fire Cloud Thief but also be wary of Sili Gong, whose actions could lead to their death, making their lives unbearable.
During one robbery attempt, the Fire Cloud Thief discovers that Sili Gong's undefeated subordinate has been defeated by a cowboy leader named Lion. The tattoo on Lion's chest catches the attention of the Fire Cloud Thief, as many years ago, a cowboy with the same tattoo killed his parents and stole their cattle. This fueled the Fire Cloud Thief's hatred for cowboys, leading him to rob them and give the cattle to the poor. For years he has been searching for the killer of his parents, and today he finally found him. However, Lion's martial arts skills surpass those of the Fire Cloud Thief, and he is proficient in magic, making him a formidable opponent. Just then, Sili Gong sends someone to the Fire Cloud Thief, claiming that someone can assist him.
Following Sili Gong to a remote countryside, the Fire Cloud Thief meets a mysterious cannibal. The cannibal explains that he has lived a life unworthy of human or ghost due to being harmed by Lion, and his inability to see the sun has prevented him from seeking revenge. With the Fire Cloud Thief's help, the cannibal can teach him how to defeat Lion: using the menstrual blood of a woman whose zodiac sign is incompatible with Lion's to strip him of his magic powers. The cannibal's daughter, Ali, is the ideal candidate. Thus, the Fire Cloud Thief stays at the cannibal's home, waiting for the opportunity to avenge himself on Lion, and during this time develops feelings for Ali. However, to seek revenge, he must temporarily set aside his personal feelings and part ways with Ali to search for Lion.
Indeed, when the Fire Cloud Thief applies the menstrual blood on Lion, he loses all his magic powers. At that moment, Sili Gong and the cannibal arrive to help the Fire Cloud Thief deal with Lion. However, as Lion lies dying, his revelation leaves the Fire Cloud Thief greatly frustrated: the cannibal's real name is Ahei, who practiced magic with Lion. When Lion discovered Ahei's malicious intentions, he severed ties with him on the day Ahei killed the Fire Cloud Thief's parents and cast a spell on Ahei to ensure he could never see the sun again. Lion then took the unconscious Fire Cloud Thief to a temple, leaving behind a prayer bead as a token for future recognition. Remembering the prayer beads the monk at the temple had given him, the Fire Cloud Thief realizes he has been deceived. Furthermore, the cannibal, unable to hide his joy, inadvertently reveals that Ali is not his daughter, but someone he raised since childhood to be his wife.
With new grudges and old hatred, the Fire Cloud Thief battles the cannibal for his life, and as Lion nears death, he transfers all his magic to the Fire Cloud Thief to aid him. Ultimately, justice prevails over evil; after avenging his parents and saving his benefactor, the Fire Cloud Thief flees with Ali to start a new life.
