Martin Brest (played by Til Schweiger) and Rudi Wurlitzer (played by Jan Josef Liefers) are two patients with terminal illnesses who meet in the hospital. They hit it off and share a bottle of wine they stumble upon. After getting drunk, Martin learns a secret about Rudi: despite growing up, Rudi has never seen the ocean. Martin decides to fulfill this wish before Rudi passes away. The two steal a car, not realizing it belongs to a gang leader and contains a large sum of cash. They also commit robberies along the way while being pursued by the police. The gang members are after them to reclaim the money in the car. On their journey to find the ocean, how many dangers will the two face? Will Martin and Rudi manage to achieve the wish of seeing the ocean? Heaven is ahead, and the two are about to knock on heaven's door...
