In the Taisho era, Matsugae Kiyoshi (played by Tsuyoshi Maki), the heir of the aristocratic Matsugae family, is deeply in love with his childhood friend, Soiko (played by Yūko Takeuchi), the cherished daughter of the Ayakura family.
